Birchfield Piano is virtual music education company established in 2022 by pianist Xander D. Birchfield. The mission of Birchfield Piano is to cultivate excellent, creative, and confident musicians and provide affordable, flexible lessons to anyone from anywhere. The company is based in the Richmond, VA area, but students can take lessons from anywhere in the United States. Today, Birchfield Piano has students from several states spanning from the east and west coasts of the U.S. We are also an Enrichment Service Provider (ESP) for the Colorado Homeschool Enrichment (CHE) program.
We offer piano, voice, and guitar lessons virtually and our expert instructors are specifically trained upon hire to provide the best quality lessons over this format. Some instructors offer in-person lessons, but we offer all lessons virtually to ensure everyone can have the opportunity to learn at Birchfield Piano. Providing virtual lessons is only one way Birchfield Piano makes lessons accessible to all. We also offer flexible scheduling around the student's needs, affordable lesson rates, and monetary awards for students' hard work. Learn more by visiting our registration page.

While the primary goal of music lessons is to master an instrument, the benefits at Birchfield Piano extend far beyond the instrument. Learning an instrument is a powerful catalyst for building confidence, fostering creativity, and sharpening problem-solving skills. Research consistently shows that music students excel in analytical fields like math and science. Beyond academics, our students develop essential life skills, including accountability, punctuality, and the courage to be original. Our teaching philosophy integrates music reading, theory, and improvisation from day one. By teaching both the "how" and the "why" of music, we empower our students to become independent, well-rounded musicians and inspired lifelong learners.
Monday - Thursday: 8:30am - 5pm EST
Friday: 9am - 3pm EST
Saturday - Sunday: Closed
*Note: These are our hours of normal business operations (new student registration, billing, support, etc.). Our instructors have regular office and teaching hours that may differ from the above. These hours are listed on your instructor's profile. Birchfield Piano is closed on most federal holidays.
